The Aeolian Islands - a small group of 7 volcanic islands just a short ferry trip off the North East coast of Sicily. Vulcano and Stromboli together along with Lipari are the main islands of the archipelago. The 1st two are renown for their volcanoes which still to-day have some volcanic activity.

The islands offer beaches and a coastline moulded by the volcanic activity where there are excellent opportunities for both snorkelling and diving. The name Aeolian comes from the mythical Greek guardian of the winds, Aeolus and it is well earned by the gusts that buffet the islands in the autumn and winter, whilst in summer the islands bask in typical Sicilian sun.
